About the Artist
Karina Ishkhanova, born in Moscow in 1966. Moved to Canada in 1996.
Art for me is a magical puzzle: the great joy is to experience how colours applied to canvas suddenly form the meaning, each of them being a part of a grand dance moving and circling and finally finding that perfect place to reflect the viewer with the inner feelings and understanding.

There are two passions in my life: numbers and painting. Both have accompanied me since childhood. The perfect gift for me each time was the 2-tier set of 48 coloured pencils so that I could sit for hours solving puzzles by carefully selecting specific colour for each of my formulas.

I often think in images rather than words - colours and shapes are the language. To solve a problem or situation I envision it, give it body and vibrant skins and then just wait till it expresses itself with the answers.

Each of my paintings reflects a specific thought, idea or vision. I don't repeat my works. The "Paintings" page shows all of my works created so far and "In Progress" shows the ones I am currently working on.
